"Pastor Alex is like a stick of dynamite going off! If you are needing to get your Church out of a rut or see your people moved to do more than just show up on Sunday morning--this is the man of God that you need speaking to your congregation." says Troy D. Bohn, International Evangelist & Church Planter.
Pastors across the nation are discovering that dynamite truly does come in small packages as they hear the message and experience the fire of the Holy Spirit that marks the ministry of Alex Hill.
Alex Hill was at the end of the line before miraculously coming to the Lord Jesus Christ in 1991. His life had literally hit “rock bottom” as he saw everything falling apart around him. Having suffered failed relationships, despair and hopelessness; he would eventually see himself facing felony assault charges and the possibility of jail time.
In 1991 he went to church on a “dare.” Showing up in this small church in Hereford, Texas was one thing, but then discovering that it was a completely Spanish-speaking church was another!
Not understanding the language though didn’t prevent the Holy Spirit from dealing with this young man’s heart as he found himself drawn into the presence of the Lord. A deep conviction came over him and at the first opportunity he raced to the altar and surrendered his life to Jesus Christ.
Things have been equally dramatic ever since! Within weeks of receiving Christ, Pastor Alex began going into the Prison System with Evangelist Johnny Gonzales of Clovis, New Mexico. Conducting day-long Tent meetings on the prison grounds, they took the message of the Cross to the front-lines. It was during this time that Pastor Alex felt the strong call upon his life to preach the Gospel.
In 1993 he found himself at New Beginnings Ministries Church where he would come under the intense time of mentoring and discipleship from local Pastor, James Rudd. This time of study and seeking God would serve as a foundation for the powerful ministry that would follow.
Pastor Alex found himself relocating to Amarillo, Texas in 1994 and with the move a new chapter of training and ministry would begin that would eventually take this man of God from coast to coast preaching the Word of God and seeing untold numbers receiving Jesus as Savior in some of the most notorious places in this Nation.
Upon arriving in Amarillo, Pastor Alex visited the Dayspring Dream Center, a church affiliated with the Los Angeles Dream Center which is pastored by Tommy & Matthew Barnett. The pastor of the Dayspring Dream Center, Troy Bohn, immediately recognized the calling and anointing upon this young man’s life and began involving him in the work of the ministry.
The next ten years would provide a proverbial “proving ground” for ministry as Pastor Alex helped pioneer and establish several critical ministries of the Dream Center including:
Adopt-A-Block Ministry: This servant evangelism ministry served as the life-blood of Dayspring as it mobilized a small army each Saturday for a time of invading an area encompassing forty-eight adjacent city blocks surrounding the church.
Chosen Generation: This youth and young adult ministry began in the game room of a local go-cart track and eventually moved to a local Christian coffee house. It provided a time of worship and discipleship to many unchurched young people in the community.
Truck Stop Ministries: Utilizing a converted tractor trailer set up at a local truck stop, this ministry hosted a service each Sunday for the many truckers and travelers passing through the busy I-40 corridor in the Texas Panhandle.
The Jesus Café’ and Outreach Service: Pastor Hill served as the lead pastor to this ministry that provided a hot “sit down” meal to an average of 250 homeless and needy men women and children with a worship service following.
Raven Outreach Ministries: Raven was the evangelism arm of the Dayspring Dream Center that conducted evangelism in some of America’s most at-risk innercities, including: New York, Los Angeles, and NewOrleans.
Pastor Hill also served on Dayspring’s Board of Elders and as an associate pastor of the Church. His passionate delivery and insightful wisdom made him a tremendous voice for the hour and a much sought after guest speaker.
In 2003, Pastor Hill helped establish Raven Ministries International, Inc. then based out of New Orleans, Louisiana. He serves as the Vice-President and Associate Director of International Operations as well as overseeing all chapters located in the Southern United States.
It was in during this time that Pastor Alex helped plant the New Orleans International Church, which targeted the French Quarter and the housing projects located in close proximity to the Central Business District.
Sharing the Gospel on Bourbon Street and throughout the French Quarter, gave him literally thousands of opportunities to see the Hand of God move upon in what might be considered the most unlikely of places.
In August of 2005, Hill found himself and his family evacuating the city of New Orleans as Hurricane Katrina made its way into the Gulf of Mexico. Joining the Raven Team in taking sanctuary just beyond the brunt of the storm, Pastor Hill began ministering the tens of thousands who had fled the destructive force of this terrible storm.
Within twenty-four hours Pastor Hill had learned that he and his family had lost everything to the flood waters following the 17th Street levee breach in New Orleans---everything that is except their faith in Jesus and their determination to make His Gospel known to all who would hear.
Camping out in the sweltering Louisiana heat at night and leading teams of Raven Relief workers into some of the hardest hit areas in South Louisiana and the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Pastor Alex and the team would spend 12-14 hours each day working to provide help and restore hope to the thousand affected.
Personal:
Pastor Alex is married to Holly and they have three children, Hope, Judah and Josiah.
Hill is a graduate of the Dayspring Institute of Ministry & Biblical Studies, The Raven School of Evangelism and an ordained minister with the Church of God (Cleveland, Tenn.).
